Important Travel Tips
Badrinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Badri Narayan). According to Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu meditated here while Goddess Lakshmi took the form of a Badri tree to protect him from harsh weather.
The temple is surrounded by the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges and flows beside the sacred Alaknanda River.
Due to heavy snowfall, the temple remains open only for six months every year.
The Badrinath Yatra 2026 is expected to begin in late April or early May 2026, on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
The temple generally closes in October or early November before winter snowfall.
Haridwar → Rishikesh → Devprayag → Srinagar → Rudraprayag → Karnaprayag → Joshimath → Badrinath
Unlike Kedarnath, there is no major trek for Badrinath. The temple is accessible by road.
Road conditions are generally good during peak season.
Darshan timings may vary slightly, but generally:
Morning Darshan: 4:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Evening Darshan: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Special pujas and aartis are also conducted daily.
